Sibylle Reinfried

Sibylle Reinfried is a Professor of Geography and Geographical Education at University of Teacher Education in Lucerne, Switzerland. She received her PhD at University of Heidelberg (Germany) in geoscience. She taught and conducted research at universities in Germany, the United States and at University for Science and Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland. Her research is focussed on students’ conceptual development of complex geographical concepts such as global warming and water issues with reference to education for sustainable development. She has published numerous research papers and several books and is a co-author of the Lucerne Declaration on Geographical Education for Sustainable Development. She served in the Steering Committee of the IGU Comission on Geographical Education from 2004–2012. In 2018, she founded her own company GeoEduc for consulting services in the field of geoscience education.

David Lambert

David Lambert is an Emeritus Professor of Geography Education at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL – IOE). He was a secondary school teacher for twelve years, becoming a deputy principal. He became a university teacher educator in 1986, developing research interests in curriculum, pedagogy and assessment in geographical education. In 2002, he was appointed a full-time chief executive of the Geographical Association (GA). He returned to the IOE as professor in 2007 (at first part-time and later full time after leaving the GA in 2012). He has focussed research and scholarly energy on contributing to (re)establishing geography as a high status, significant school subject, for example through the GeoCapabilities project. He retired from UCL-IOE in 2018.

Luděk Sýkora

Luděk Sýkora is Professor at the Department of Social Geography and Regional Development, Faculty of Science, Charles University, Prague, the Czech Republic. His research and teaching focuses on urban change in postsocialist cities, impacts of globalization on urban transformations, processes of metropolitan change such as suburbanization, neighborhood changes such as gentrification, processes and localities of segregation, inter-cultural interaction in immigrant neighborhoods, metropolisation and polycentric development in settlement systems, small and medium sized towns, urban real estate development, national and municipal housing and housing policy, urban policies and urban planning and the role of public sector, private actors and citizens and social movements in urban development. In his applied research and consultancy he worked for the European Commission, national government ministries (Regional Development, Labor and Social Affairs, Internal Affairs), national government agencies (Czech Development Agency, Agency for Social Exclusion), local governments, business sector and NGOs.
